Dear CSU Community,

As the efforts to suppress and contain the Cameron Peak Fire burning 60 miles West of Fort Collins continue, I want to reassure you that the CSU Mountain Campus was successfully evacuated last Thursday evening, August 13, including three Housing & Dining Services staff, two Warner College of Natural Resources research staff, and eight construction contractor staff. Thankfully, we had no student or conference groups at the Mountain Campus. FEMA is using the Christman Airfield at our Foothills Campus as the Incident Command Base and structure protection and fire line measures are underway at the Mountain Campus. The Larimer County Sherriff’s Office has announced that the area around the Mountain Campus is closed to all recreational activities. Highway 14 remains closed from Rustic to Gould.

Our CSUPD Emergency Manager, Ken Quintana, Lori Meyers from Facilities Management, and numerous Housing & Dining Services Mountain Campus and Facilities staff are working closely with the FEMA Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team and other cooperators to assist their operations and protect our campus. I am so grateful, as I know you all are, for their dedication and tireless work on behalf of our whole community.

Sincerely,
Joyce
